ClientScout now uses Brave Search API for Open‑Web search by default. Brave uses one API key only (no Search Engine ID / CX required).
- In ClientScout, open: Settings → API Settings
- Under Open‑Web Search Provider, set Provider to:
brave
- In the Brave Search API section, paste your API Key into the API Key field
- Click Test Connection to confirm the key works
- Click Save to apply the setting
- Open the Brave Search API dashboard (create an account or sign in)
- Choose a plan (free/trial may be available depending on Brave’s current offerings)
- Generate/Create an API Key in the dashboard
- Copy the key and paste it into ClientScout (Settings → API Settings → Brave Search API → API Key)
- Click Test Connection, then Save
- Test Connection fails / Unauthorized (401): The API key is missing/invalid/expired. Re-copy the key from the Brave dashboard or generate a new key, then test again.
- Rate limit / Too many requests (429): You may have hit your plan’s request limit. Wait and retry later, reduce usage, or upgrade your Brave plan in the dashboard.
- Search returns no/poor results: Confirm Provider = brave, the key is saved, and try a broader keyword/location query.
- Brave Search API usage is subject to your plan and quota/limits shown in your Brave dashboard.
